Ricky Vines Our Lady ... in blue jeans?

My grandma’s first wages were in US silver dollars. She had them forged into a Rosary then gave them to my mom. I don’t recall seeing my mom use it much but she prayed when she’s in crisis. When she was visited by a dead aunt who asked about me, she prayed the Hail Mary. But the aunt did not vanish; she prayed back with the Holy Mary. I was an infant then but that was my first involvement with the mother of God. Fast forward to 2nd grade. I volunteered to bring our statue of Mary for the shrine… Continue

Br. Paul Chu, SDB My Vocation Story - Chapter 2

Looking back in the past two years, I can see that I have learned and matured much with the Salesians of Don Bosco. More importantly, I can feel the presence of God in my life. He has guided me through this spiritual and human journey with the invitation to go deeper into union with Him. In the Summer of 2007, while I was still working at a life insurance company as a System Specialist, I took a 3-week vacation to work at the Mary Help of Christian camp in Tampa, Florida. It was a wonderful exp… Continue

Robert Ashley Collins Reclaiming Common Sense

The Latest Post At www.sonofbosco.blogspot.com When discussing theological differences, sometimes you have to start at the very beginning at what we call "common sense." Believe it or not, but not everyone agrees that there is such a thing. Some people feel that everyone can build their own realities and disregard everything else, especially that which contradicts them. Call me naive, slow, simple-minded, stupid, or whatever you w… Continue

Ricky Vines Tolerating abortion like the parable of the weeds?

http://ncronline.org/news/accountability/bishops-urged-restore-civility-pro-life-efforts In the article above, Fr. Langan tells the bishops to back off because they’re just being played and that they’re not considering the big picture with all the good that’s happening. And he proposes that we go along and tolerate abortion because it is impractical to criminalize the supply. But the demand can be reduced. It may not be the perfect solution, but it is good. And the best is the enemy of the good… Continue
