Jeanie,
Can you imagine that I am responding to your comment from your December note...WOW where does the time go? By now your 4th grandchild has arrived and is being spolied by you already!!! Steve McEntegart came back from New Jersey and indicated you said hello. I will not tell you how he described you, but once I said Mother Love he knew who I was talking about...:-) Sorry I haven't been in touch more, but school is seemingly much more time consuming (or maybe that's just my age telling?) but yet a beautiful challenge that I look forward to every day....well OK, almost every day. But I love it being back on the front line with kids again. Hope all is well with you guys. Love to Denis.

Hey Jeanie, super job on the Power Point presentation this morning!!!! I'd ask you to send it to me, but I do not have Power Point in my lap top yet. I am wondering if you could possibly send me the questions which you posted at the end of the presentation. I could not write fast enough to get them down and I think that they are important to reflect upon. You are such a gift to the unit! You are such a gift to me. Love you, Judy
commercially, people start to bring out christmas decorations during september. also xmas carols are already being played in the radio stations. the preparations even intensifies after Halloween. xmas sale have started in the malls.
liturgically, we have this nine day novena (starts on the 16th of december) at before dawn (4:00 am). we call it "misa de gallo" (this is spanish because this was started by the spanish missionaries who wanted to evangelize the newly baptized christians in the 17th century) in english it is translated as "mass of the rooster" since the farmers to would go to the fields every morning and the fishermen going home after their early morning catch would gather attend the mass. this tradition became a very beautiful venue to catechize the early filipino christians. in the "misa de gallo", the "glory to god" is already sung, a special permission from rome.
however, it is not only a church celebration, christmas in the philippines is an occasion where some families who migrated to other countries come back here the philippines to reunite with their relatives.
after the epiphany, other people would consider the feast of "sto. niño" holy infant--a devotion in the whole philippines (you could also search on "sinulog festival") but much intensified in cebu where the first christian conversion was held in 1521.
there new york, i believe there are many filipinos. they also organize the "misa de gallo". i invite you, if you have a chance to attend the celebration. after the mass you could eat (if there are) the "puto bungbong" and the "bibingka" which are popular here in the philippines.
thank you very much, ma'am jeanie, for dropping by and the commenting.
welcome to ning!
advanced happy christmas from the country who celebrates the longest christmas season in the world--the philippines.
It was so good to see you at the Sisters' Jubilee celebration last week. How about getting onto the Cooperators' site and encouraging more Cooperators to do so. We could really get a good thing going.
Hey Jeanie, I haven't forgot about you. Things have been tight (scheduling wise). Hope to see you either around the MArian shrine or at the first professions.
