About Me:
I'm 17 and exploring my faith. I am constantly thinking about everything I can think of and of things people mention whether on here or somewhere else. I have very few releases in my life. One of them is the guitar. I play classically and just good ol' regular guitar. (Because I play classically I grow out four of my finger nails on my right hand and am known to some as "Nails.") I rely on God for a lot. He guided me to Don Bosco Prep in 2004 when I had no real idea as to where to go. He gave me great examples of the Salesian lifestyle, which I have taken to. And has allowed me to see that I have some calling to follow His Son, even if I don't know what exactly I am supposed to do.
How did you hear of the Salesians?
In 1996 I started the worst 8 years of my life. I entered a Catholic elementary school in first grade, 2 years after most everyone else in my grade had started there. I was the outcast for the next 8 years. In 8th grade my parents let me choose my own high school. Most of the guys from my elementary school were going to Bergen Catholic so I ruled that out. I ruled out St. Joseph's Regional, and I ruled out Paramus Catholic. My decision was between Don Bosco and Bergen County Academies. The Academies didn't take me and Don Bosco was there for me. I had no qualms about going there because when I visited everyone made me feel quite welcome.

So in September 2004 I started as a freshman. In my sophomore year I started working with Fr. Steve (Leake) in the Youth Ministry through my friend Gabe. And since then have really grown into a sense of the Salesians. I know that if I could just get a clear idea of what God wants me to do, I would follow without any qualms, even if it meant joining the Salesians, which might mean working on some of my rougher points. (I'm horrible at learning languages, I'm quite dependent upon some of the small comforts that I enjoy now, and I have a horrible sense of guilt around those less fortunate than I am which kind of immobilizes me at times.)
What do you think God is calling you to?

I apologize my brothers and sisters, I have not been on here in a very long time. I have been going through some time of questioning and am still questioning. I am going to college this year, my parish's pastor is retiring and I am going to a secular college with two Roman Catholic Churches nearby (one literally at the one end of the campus). Because of all this change, I have not been on here, but I know I haven't been on here for a much longer time than that, and I have no excuse.

I was helpi… Continue

Vocations

Today I was having an awesome discussion on here with Frederico and Sean about the Eucharist, Confirmation, First Eucharist and a bunch of other topics. Then today, I got a letter from Fr. Franco from the Salesian House about spending a year with the Salesians. Then as I was kind of browsing the site I saw Sean's blog about how we more often respond to feelings of fear than feelings of love and it got me thinking....

Sean said that we do this because of society's training. I have no doubt socie… Continue
