Hey, Manny - This is Fr. Steve Schenck, from Washington! I need to communicate with you, and I am not sure which is the quickest and most effective way. Let me know what I should do. Steve
Hi Manny, am John a salesian too but not yet worthy to be a theologian like you. How is study in Jerusalem? I met your rector here in Valdocco-Torino last year and he spoke beautifully well of Theologate Community of Jerusalem. One of my confrere will be coming up there this year to begin his theology. Please if you don't mind, tell me more about the student community life in Jerusalem. ....

Hi again, Br. Manny! Hope your trip to the Holy Land is going well! I left out one other saint to remember humorously because of his name. Francis De Sales is the business and ship saint. Why--because when you make a SALES, no matter what kind, you're making a business transaction. And didn't SAILS with the power of air power ships along the sea in his time? Ha! Ha! God Bless! Till Later! Viva Don Bosco! John McKevett

Oh! Sorry Br. Manny, I forgot! Yes, please let's stay united in prayer. Heaven knows we can't ever get enough of that! And you're most welcome. (about the little humorous ways to remember saint's names). Again, please let me know how you liked the Holy Land. When I went there as I said in my former note to you, I just couldn't get enough of it or of Egypt too! Awesome! To say the least! God Bless! Viva Don Bosco! John McKevett

Glad you liked it Br. Manny! Hope you're enjoying Jersualem! I went there two years ago and I also went to Egypt after a week in the Holy Land. I'm doing well right now, and so far so good as to becoming a cooperator. Let me know how Jerusalem is later when you're back! Gotta Run! Viva Don Bosco! God Bless! John McKevett

Hi again, Br. Manny! The following is a listing of a humorous way to remember certain saints. I think I promised you this and only just now, strange enough, did I find a good minute to give it to you. Hope you like it!
Don Bosco is the chocolate saint. Why? Bosco Chocolate Ice Cream Syrup! There is also Bosco Strawberry and Butterscotsh Ice Cream Syrup. I like chocolate best.
Dominic Savio--or any saint named Dominic is the grocery store saint. Why? Because of Dominick's Grocery stores in the ChicagoLand area. And in possibly other U.S. major commercial cities too!
Mary Mazzerello is the pizza saint. Why? What kind of cheese is used to make pizzas? MOZZERELLA!
Joseph Caffaso is the coffee and restaurant saint. Why? Because some brands of coffee are spelled on their coffee cans "CAFE" Like in 'NESCAFFE," coffee. And in many places in Europe, there are outdoor restaraunts with the sign "CAFE" on them. Paris, France, for instanct.
Don Colasso, though not cannonized was Don Bosco's very saintly first teacher if memory serves. I call him Fr. Giant. Why? Colasso (Colassal) which means big or gigantic. Like I said I've told Br. Matthew some if not all of this, he seemed to think it was funny. I hope you do too. The Reverned Mother Clothilde in the Convent-Orphanage St. Hildegarde, where I spent my last 4 years in England used to say "When you brighten the life of a religious, you please God as if you were St. Veronica wiping the face of Jesus when He met her while carrying His awful Cross to Golgotha. So I hope this helped brighten your day, Br. Manny! Til Later! God Bless! John McKevett, your friend in Jesus, Our Lady, Good St. Joseph Her most Chaste Spouse, and Don Bosco! (How Chocolatey!) Ha! Ha! John McKevett

Hi Br. Manny! I'm glad we're friends! I'm in the process of becoming a Salesian Cooperator, even though I know I said I just joined recently, and as I've told others, the more I see and hear of Don Bosco, the more I love him! Hope to hear from you again, soon! Much to go over! Later, I'll send you some things I use to remember various saints inlcuding Don Bosco! Br. Matthew knows some if not all of them, I've told him! Till Later! God Bless! John McKevett
I am 28 years old and I am a Salesian of Don Bosco. I am living and studying in Jerusalem and I am finishing my second year of theology. If anybody got questions for me, I am happy to answer any questions...The young need Christ!
How did you hear of the Salesians?
Since I was 5 years old. .. My grandmother prayed to St. John Bosco. I went to a Salesian parish and then a Salesian High School. I was in Salesian camps all my life.
In addition to its strong spiritual life, I have found in the Salesian Family a real family. Anytime there is a gathering that takes in many or all of the Family, it is like being a great big family reunion. It is always a time of renewal, a vivif...
Being in formation with the Salesians, I enjoy the contact with Salesian Sisters and Cooperators. They give great witnesses with their life and work. The Sisters have been like sisters and mothers to me. The Cooperators make the Salesian so real b...
